Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting a KS2 SEND Teaching Assistant for a busy primary school in England. The role is temporary and ongoing from September 2026, supporting pupils aged 7–11 with SEND, providing one-to-one and small-group help to access the KS2 curriculum, and assisting with academic, social and emotional development.

You will work closely with teachers, SEND staff and parents to implement interventions, promote independence and nurture a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND.
• Experience working within a primary school setting is desirable.
• Knowledge of autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND
• Supporting pupils to access the Key Stage 2 curriculum
• Assisting with academic, social, and emotional development
• Implementing interventions and support strategies
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, and parents
• Supporting the creation of an inclusive and nurturing learning environment
