Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking an experienced Complex Needs Teaching Assistant / SEND Teaching Assistant to support a specialist KS1 provision within a mainstream primary school in Barking. The role involves working with Year 1 and Year 2 pupils with autism, pre-verbal children, and complex learning needs.

This hands-on position requires practical experience with intimate care, challenging behaviour, and strong communication strategies to support pupils throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a specialist SEND provision.
• Practical experience supporting pre-verbal or non-verbal children.
• Comfortable with intimate care responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and individual support to pupils with complex SEND.
• Support pre-verbal pupils using appropriate communication strategies.
• Assist with intimate care, personal hygiene and daily routines.
• Manage challenging situations calmly and confidently.
• Support sensory needs, emotional regulation and structured activities.
• Promote independence and positive engagement throughout the school day.
