Job summary

Remedy Education is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision within a primary school in Barking Riverside.

You will support a Year 1 and Year 2 class with complex needs including ASD and non-verbal pupils, providing intimate care when required and helping pupils regulate emotions in a busy classroom.

The role starts ASAP, is full-time, long-term with potential to extend or become permanent.

Remedy Education is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision within a primary school in Barking Riverside.

The role involves supporting a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class with a range of complex Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASD), communication difficulties and pre-verbal pupils.

We are looking for someone who is confident, energetic, proactive and experienced in supporting children with complex needs.

The Role

• Support children with ASD, complex SEND and communication difficulties.
• Work closely with pre-verbal and non-verbal pupils.
• Provide intimate and personal care support when required.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and challenging behaviour.
• Encourage engagement, independence and communication.
• Work within a busy, active classroom environment.

Requirements

• Previous hands-on experience supporting children with complex SEND.
• Experience working with pre-verbal or non-verbal pupils.
• Confident and willing to provide intimate care - essential.
• Experience managing challenging behaviour and supporting emotional regulation.
• Physically active, patient and able to remain calm in demanding situations.
• A proactive approach and ability to work independently.

This position requires genuine practical SEND experience due to the needs of the class.
