Job summary

Teaching Personnel is working with a welcoming primary school in the Evesham area who are seeking a dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join their team this academic year.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering high-quality lessons across the KS1 curriculum, supporting pupils as they develop confidence, independence and core skills, with strong behaviour management and positive relationships with learners and parents.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching within a primary school setting, especially Year 1.
• Good understanding of phonics and early reading.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the Year 1 curriculum.
• Establish clear expectations and maintain strong behaviour management.
• Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Support pupils with phonics, reading, writing and early maths development.
• Assess and monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching to needs.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
• Collaborate with the wider school team and maintain records.

About the Role

The school is looking for a teacher who is confident, organised and consistent, with excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young learners.

Your Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across the Year 1 curriculum
• Establish clear expectations and maintain strong behaviour management throughout the school day
• Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment
• Support pupils with their phonics, reading, writing and early mathematical development
• Assess and monitor pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs
• Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development
• Build strong and positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
• Work collaboratively with the wider school team
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to assessment and planning
• Always follow school policies and safeguarding procedures

What We Are Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching within a primary school setting
• Experience teaching Key Stage 1, particularly Year 1, is desirable
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Confidence in establishing clear boundaries and maintaining consistency
• Good understanding of phonics and early reading
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching
• The ability to differentiate learning to meet a range of abilities
• A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
