Location: Konjiki, Battersea Power Station

Are you hardworking, reliable and take pride in keeping things clean, organised and running smoothly?

We're looking for a dedicated and conscientious Kitchen Porter to join the opening team at our new Battersea restaurant, helping to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation while supporting our chefs and wider restaurant team.

Who We Are

We're a family-run Japanese restaurant, with our first London restaurant based in Kensington, and we're now excited to be opening our second branch at Battersea Power Station, where this role will be based.

Our goal is to create an exceptional dining experience, and we believe that starts with a happy and passionate team. We genuinely care about our customers and each other, and we're looking for someone who shares those values. We believe great restaurants are built by people who work hard, support one another and take pride in what they do.

Although the Kitchen Porter role is primarily behind the scenes, it is an essential part of keeping our restaurant running smoothly and ensuring our chefs and front-of-house team can deliver the best possible experience for our guests.

What We're Looking For

Above all else, we're looking for someone who is kind, conscientious, hardworking and reliable, and genuinely cares about supporting their colleagues and maintaining high standards.

We're incredibly proud of the culture we've built within our existing team, where people proactively support one another. We're looking for someone who will reinforce that culture - treating everyone with kindness and respect while working together to achieve the highest standards.

  • Previous experience working as a Kitchen Porter or in a professional kitchen is preferred, although not essential for the right candidate.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability, with a willingness to take responsibility for completing tasks thoroughly and efficiently.
  • Excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently and remain calm in a fast-paced kitchen environment, particularly during busy services.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Ability to follow cleaning procedures, food hygiene requirements and health and safety protocols consistently.
  • A proactive attitude, recognising what needs to be done and taking initiative without always needing to be asked.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a willingness to support chefs and colleagues wherever needed.
  • A friendly and conscientious nature - being consistently considerate of colleagues whilst showing a strong sense of responsibility.
  • A positive professional attitude, eagerness to learn and willingness to take on feedback.
  • Ability to carry out physically demanding duties, including standing for extended periods, lifting and moving kitchen equipment safely.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
  • English proficiency sufficient to understand instructions and safety procedures, and authorisation to work in the UK are essential.
What You'll Be Doing

As a Kitchen Porter, you'll play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen, ensuring that our chefs have the equipment and support they need throughout service.

Washing & Kitchen Organisation
  • Washing dishes, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans and kitchen utensils efficiently and thoroughly.
  • Operating and maintaining commercial dishwashing equipment correctly.
  • Ensuring clean dishes, utensils and equipment are promptly returned to their designated locations.
  • Keeping the washing-up area clean, tidy and organised throughout service.
  • Managing the flow of dirty and clean equipment during busy periods to prevent delays to kitchen operations.
Cleaning & Hygiene
  • Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, storage and washing-up areas.
  • Cleaning and sanitising kitchen surfaces, sinks, floors, equipment and other designated areas.
  • Carrying out daily opening, closing and scheduled deep-cleaning duties.
  • Ensuring rubbish is disposed of correctly, including separating waste and recycling where required.
  • Following all food hygiene, health and safety and cleaning procedures, including the safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Promptly identifying and reporting any maintenance issues, hazards or equipment faults.
Supporting the Kitchen Team
  • Assisting chefs with basic food preparation tasks where required and appropriately trained.
  • Helping with the organisation and storage of deliveries, ingredients and kitchen supplies.
  • Keeping storage areas clean, organised and accessible.
  • Ensuring kitchen equipment and utensils are readily available during service.
  • Supporting colleagues with additional kitchen duties when needed.
  • Working efficiently and proactively to help the entire kitchen team maintain a smooth service.
What's In It for You?
  • Competitive pay of approximately £15.00 per hour, including average service charge (tronc is not guaranteed).
  • Free meals on shift.
  • Discounts for family and friends.
  • A supportive, family-like working environment.
