Job summary

BaxterStorey is seeking a diligent kitchen assistant to support dishwashing, cleanliness, and basic food prep in a busy kitchen. You will help maintain sanitation, assist with inventory, and follow health and safety standards in a collaborative team environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and the ability to stand for long periods. Training and development opportunities are provided within a respectful, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

• No formal education is required.
• Must be physically able to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation practices is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Dishwashing - Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using industrial dishwashers.
• Kitchen Cleanliness - Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, countertops, and food preparation areas; empty bins and dispose waste properly.
• Food Preparation - Assist chefs with basic tasks like peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients.
• Inventory Management - Assist in receiving, storing, and organising kitchen supplies and ingredients.
• Compliance with Health and safety - maintain cleanliness and organisation; work as a team to lead by example.

• Kitchen Cleanliness - Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, countertops, and food preparation areas. Empty rubbish bins and ensure proper disposal of waste materials
• Food Preparation - Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients
• Inventory Management - Assist in receiving, storing, and organising kitchen supplies and ingredients
• Compliance with Health and safety - maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen ensuring equipment is in good working order, We work together as a team to lead by example, protecting the planet and supporting local communities.

Requirements
