Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Kitchen Porter to join our team at one of our workplace restaurants in London NW10.

Working 25 hours a week, from 11am to 4pm, five days out of seven. Proposed start date: 1st June 2025.

Your role involves maintaining high standards of service presentation, cleanliness, and food preparation, working as part of a team with excellent customer care skills and attention to detail. It is vital to ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment for food preparation. The role can be physically demanding and involves repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting the chef and Chef Manager with food preparation (if applicable).
  2. Maintaining counters and front of house to the highest standards of tidiness and cleanliness.
  3. Keeping all trays clean and well stocked.
  4. Ensuring crockery and cutlery are clean and polished.
  5. Providing good customer relations and promoting excellent customer care.
  6. Working in a tidy, organized, and clean manner.
  7. Ensuring washing up is efficiently managed without backlog.
  8. Cleaning plates before dishwashing.
  9. Ensuring all plates, crockery, and pans are cleaned and dried properly.
  10. Putting away all washing-up in correct locations.
  11. Using the correct amount of chemicals in the dishwasher.
  12. Emptying bins and managing recycling appropriately.
  13. Sweeping and mopping floors to high standards.
  14. Handling deliveries and completing necessary paperwork.
  15. Addressing site and client personnel appropriately.
  16. Maintaining cleanliness standards in the kitchen.
  17. Following stock rotation and food storage procedures.

Safety, Policy & Procedures

  1. Taking and recording equipment and food temperatures as required.
  2. Completing cleaning duties to the required standard, including equipment, walls, floors, fixtures, and fittings, using appropriate chemicals.
  3. Reporting customer problems to the Manager.
  4. Assisting with other duties as required.
  5. Attending to any reasonable requests from the Unit Manager.
  6. Reporting incidents and taking appropriate action.

Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)

  1. Being conscious of environmental impacts and acting accordingly, e.g., turning off appliances, proper waste disposal.
  2. Actively embracing and promoting ESG goals within the team.

Skills and Experience

  1. Willingness to undertake training to enhance the role.
  2. Completing all required company training.
  3. Wearing a clean, correct uniform.
  4. Using Personal Protective Equipment properly.
  5. Flexibility to cover other duties as needed.
  6. Experience in a similar role and environment.
  7. Highly organized and able to work under pressure.
  8. Maintaining high standards of hygiene and health and safety.
  9. Excellent customer service and social skills.
  10. Responsible for food preparation and service.
  11. Positive attitude and team spirit.
  12. Customer-focused with basic food knowledge.
