Job summary

Hamberley-Care-Homes in Oxford is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the care home kitchen in preparing high-quality meals that meet residents’ dietary requirements. You will help plan, prepare and serve nutritious menus, ensuring food hygiene standards are met and stock is managed efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar catering role, ideally in a care or similar environment.
  • Committed to customer care and first-class service provision.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety COSHH regulations.
  • Empathy and a desire to make a difference to residents’ lives.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and on own initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible team worker with a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Support Chefs in planning and provisioning high-quality meals meeting residents’ nutritional and dietary requirements.
  • Plan, prepare and serve balanced meals that meet dietary needs.
  • Ensure all food meets Food Hygiene Standards and safe methods of work are used.
  • Manage stocks and stores with proper labeling and stock rotation.
  • Maintain accurate records to satisfy food hygiene requirements, such as fridge temperature checks.

What you'll be doing
  • Supporting the Chefs in the planning and provision of high-quality meals that meet the nutritional and dietary requirements of our residents
  • Plan, prepare, and serve balanced meals that meet dietary requirements
  • To ensure all food prepared meets Food Hygiene Standards and ensure that safe methods of work are always used
  • Manage all stocks and stores ensuring all food is correctly marked and stock rotation systems are in place
  • To maintain accurate records to satisfy food hygiene requirement such as fridge temperature checks
