Job summary

Anchor Point Neurological Centre in Nursling/Southampton is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team in preparing and delivering nutritious, high-quality meals for residents. You will assist with food preparation, portioning and basic cooking in line with planned menus and dietary needs, while maintaining food hygiene and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment.
• Experience in a healthcare or care setting is desirable.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• Experience preparing meals for special dietary or texture-modified requirements is desirable.
• Flexible, proactive and willing to learn.
• Able to work under pressure and use initiative.
• Compassionate and respectful approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals for residents.
• Support kitchen team with chopping, mixing, portioning and assembling ingredients.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safe working practices, including stock rotation and temperature checks.
• Assist with texture-modified and specialist diets as required.
