Job summary

Anchor Point Neurological Centre in Nursling, Southampton, is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for residents. You will work alongside chefs to prepare ingredients, follow menus, and ensure dietary needs are met with care and professionalism.

Ideal candidates will have kitchen experience, familiarity with food safety, and a compassionate approach.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen/catering experience.
• Healthcare or care setting experience desirable.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Experience with special dietary or texture-modified meals desirable.
• Flexible, proactive, and quick learner.
• Able to work under pressure and use initiative.
• Compassionate, respectful, team player.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals for residents.
• Assist chefs with prep: chopping, mixing, portioning, assembling.
• Support dietary requirements and planned menus.
• Maintain food hygiene and safe working practices.
• Manage stock rotation, storage, and temperature checks.
• Assist in meeting nutritional needs of individuals.
