Job summary

Brook View Neurological Centre in Worcester is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen team with preparation and delivery of nutritious meals for residents. You will work with chefs on chopping, mixing, portioning and assembling ingredients, and assist with basic cooking in line with menus and dietary needs.

You will help maintain high standards of hygiene and safe working practices, manage stock rotation and temperature checks, and support texture-modified and specialist diets.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment.
• Experience in a healthcare or care setting is desirable.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• Experience preparing meals for special dietary or texture-modified requirements is desirable.
• Flexible, proactive and willing to learn.
• Able to work under pressure and use initiative.
• Compassionate and respectful approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and delivery of nutritious meals.
• Support chefs with chopping, mixing, portioning and assembling ingredients.
• Help maintain high standards of food hygiene and safe working practices, including stock rotation and temperature checks.
• Support dietary needs including texture-modified diets and specialist diets.
