Job summary

Meadow View Neurological Centre in Basingstoke is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join the kitchen team. You will help prepare and deliver nutritious meals, including assisting with food prep and meal assembly, while following planned menus and individual dietary requirements.

You will help maintain food hygiene, stock rotation and temperature checks, and support texture-modified diets as needed. A caring approach is essential when working with residents with neurological conditions.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment.
• Experience in a healthcare or care setting is desirable.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• Experience preparing meals for special dietary or texture-modified requirements is desirable.

Responsibilities

• As a Kitchen Assistant, support the kitchen team with preparation and delivery of nutritious meals.
• Assist chefs with chopping, mixing, portioning and assembling ingredients and basic cooking.
• Support meal preparation in line with planned menus and dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, stock rotation, storage and temperature checks.
• Support dietary needs including texture-modified diets and nursing care requirements.
