Job summary

Care Concern Group is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team in preparing and delivering nutritious meals for residents at Fernhill Neurological Centre, Farnborough. Work alongside chefs with duties including chopping, prep, portioning and basic cooking, following menus and individual dietary requirements.

You will maintain food hygiene, assist with stock rotation, temperature checks and storage, and support texture-modified diets as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering or kitchen environment.
• Healthcare or care setting experience desirable.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• Experience preparing meals for special dietary or texture-modified requirements desirable.
• Flexible, proactive and willing to learn.
• Able to work under pressure and use initiative.
• Compassionate and respectful approach.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and delivery of nutritious meals.
• Chop, mix, portion and assemble ingredients.
• Support basic cooking and meal preparation per planned menus.
• Follow planned menus and individual dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety.
• Manage stock rotation, storage and temperature checks.
• Support texture-modified and specialist diets.
• Provide compassionate, respectful care around individuals with neurological conditions.
