Job summary

Avon Search & Selection is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for a luxury 20-bed elderly care home in Eastbourne. You will support the kitchen team to prepare nutritious meals, keep the kitchen clean, and help deliver a high standard of food service in a warm, homely environment.

The role offers 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 1:30pm, with weekends off and a central Eastbourne location. A friendly, supportive team awaits, with opportunities to contribute to residents' daily mealtimes

Qualifications

Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
Ability to work as part of a small team.
Willingness to follow instructions and established procedures.
Friendly, caring approach to working with older people.

Responsibilities

Assist the cook and kitchen team with the preparation and service of meals.
Help prepare ingredients and undertake basic food preparation as required.
Assist with serving meals and refreshments to residents.
Ensure food is handled, stored and prepared safely.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment.
Clean work surfaces, floors and kitchen areas in accordance with hygiene procedures.
Assist with receiving, checking and storing food deliveries.
Monitor kitchen supplies and report when items need replenishing.
Follow food safety, health and safety and infection prevention procedures.
