Job summary

Avon Search seeks a Kitchen Assistant for a luxury 20-bed residential care home in Eastbourne. The role supports the cook to provide nutritious meals, maintain hygiene and ensure a welcoming dining experience for residents.

The position offers consistent weekday hours, 20 hours per week, with shifts from 9:30am to 1:30pm, Monday to Friday, in a small, supportive team focused on residents' comfort and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience desired but not essential.
• A reliable, hardworking and positive attitude.
• Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Assist the cook and kitchen team with the preparation and service of meals.
• Help prepare ingredients and undertake basic food preparation as required.
• Assist with serving meals and refreshments to residents.
• Ensure food is handled, stored and prepared safely.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment.
• Clean work surfaces, floors and kitchen areas in accordance with hygiene procedures.
• Assist with receiving, checking and storing food deliveries.
• Monitor kitchen supplies and report when items need replenishing.
• Follow food safety, health and safety and infection prevention procedures.
• Support the kitchen team in meeting residents' dietary requirements and preferences.
• Work collaboratively with care staff and colleagues to ensure residents receive a positive dining experience.
• Treat residents, visitors and colleagues with kindness, courtesy and respect.
