Job summary

Nurse Seekers in Eastbourne is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join a luxury 20-bed residential care home for elderly residents. You will support the kitchen team to provide nutritious, appetising meals and help maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen environment.

Working hours are 20 per week, Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 1:30pm, with opportunities to make a positive difference to residents’ daily dining experiences in a warm, homely setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen/catering is desirable but not essential.
• Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the cook and kitchen team with the preparation and service of meals.
• Help prepare ingredients and undertake basic food preparation as required.
• Assist with serving meals and refreshments to residents.
• Ensure food is handled, stored and prepared safely.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment.
• Clean work surfaces, floors and kitchen areas in accordance with hygiene procedures.
• Assist with receiving, checking and storing food deliveries.
• Monitor kitchen supplies and report when items need replenishing.
• Follow food safety, health and safety and infection prevention procedures.
• Support the kitchen team in meeting residents' dietary requirements and preferences.

The position offers 20 hours per week, working Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 1:30pm, making it ideal for someone looking for consistent weekday hours.
