Job summary

Avon Search is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant for a modern, purpose-built 120-bed care home in Gravesend. You will support the Chef with basic food prep, help serve meals and maintain high hygiene standards in a busy kitchen environment.

The role is full-time within a residential care setting, offering opportunities to work as part of a supportive catering team and contribute to residents' daily happiness and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 desirable.
• Reliable and hardworking with good organisation.
• Able to work well in a team.
• Flexible and willing to help with varied kitchen duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef and catering team with basic food preparation.
• Help prepare and serve meals, snacks and refreshments for residents.
• Assist with preparation of special diets and texture-modified meals as directed.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas.
• Follow hygiene procedures for surfaces, floors and equipment.
• Assist with receiving, storing and rotating food deliveries.
