Job summary

Join Manchester City Women at the City Football Academy as a permanent, part-time Kitchen Assistant in Manchester. You will work 18.5 hours per week, with the opportunity to pick up additional hours depending on the football schedule.

You will help keep the kitchen and refectory clean, safe and ready for service, support basic food preparation, and work closely with chefs and catering colleagues to maintain high hygiene and service standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as a kitchen assistant or in a catering environment.
• Knowledge of manual and mechanical cleaning equipment and procedures.
• Level 1 Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to work towards one.
• Level 1 Allergy Awareness certificate or willingness to work towards one.
• Ability to follow food hygiene, COSHH, manual handling, health and safety, fire and security procedures.
• Flexible and dependable approach with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Keep kitchen and refectory clean, safe and ready for service.
• Clean and sterilise equipment, surfaces and areas; operate dishwasher; complete deep-clean tasks.
• Receive and store deliveries; manage waste in line with recycling procedures.
• Handle cleaning chemicals safely in accordance with COSHH guidance.

You will join the Manchester City Women’s Academy catering team at the City Football Academy, supporting the daily experience of players and colleagues across our brand new facilities. The team plays an important part in creating the standards, care and consistency that help people perform at their best.

The Role

As Kitchen Assistant, you will help keep the kitchen and refectory clean, safe and ready for service. Your work will make a practical difference every day, supporting a positive food-service environment for players, staff, management and visitors.

You will clean and sterilise equipment, surfaces, tableware and kitchen areas, operate and close down the dishwasher, complete deep-cleaning tasks, and report any faults. You will also help receive and store deliveries, manage waste in line with recycling procedures, and handle cleaning chemicals safely in accordance with COSHH guidance. Working closely with chefs and catering colleagues, you will support basic food preparation and contribute to high standards of hygiene, food safety and service. You will follow health and safety, fire and security procedures and bring a reliable, considerate approach to a role shaped by the football schedule.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience working as a kitchen assistant or in a similar catering environment.
• Practical knowledge of manual and mechanical cleaning equipment and procedures.
• A Level 1 food hygiene certificate, or willingness to work towards one.
• A Level 1 allergy awareness certificate, or willingness to work towards one.
• The ability to follow food hygiene, COSHH, manual handling, health and safety, fire and security procedures.
• A flexible and dependable approach, with clear communication and the ability to support colleagues with cleaning, deliveries, waste handling and basic food preparation.
