Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Ealing is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team across a 7-day rota. This role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with early and late shifts.

You will support the Chef to prepare balanced meals, maintain high hygiene standards, wash and store equipment, check deliveries, and help with stock ordering. Applicants should have catering experience and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

Qualifications

  • Previous catering experience required in a kitchen or care setting.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety training is essential.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate held by the applicant.
  • Polite, professional, with good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
  • Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks and kitchen duties.
  • Wash utensils and ensure proper storage.
  • Sort, store and distribute ingredients; check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment.
  • Follow COSHH regulations and store chemicals safely.

We are currently recruiting for Kitchen Assistant with previous experience working in a catering or kitchen environment at Cygnet Hospital Ealing.

Our current need is to cover early and late shifts, working full-time (37.5 hours a week) across a 7 day rota (Monday - Sunday)

  • Early shift times – 7:30am – 3:30pm
  • Late shift times – 10am – 7pm

You will assist the Chef in ensuring that all catering areas are maintained in a hygienic, clean, tidy and safe manner, as per the operational standards, and assist in all relevant aspects of the catering operation as required.

Your day to day…
  • Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals
  • Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
  • Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
  • Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
  • Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Hospital. To maintain and demonstrate a positive attitude toward clients, their families, staff, visitors and others
  • Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
  • Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
  • Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations

  • Previous catering experience
  • Knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety Training
  • Passionate about catering, preferably with experience within a care setting
  • Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member
  • Polite & professional, with a positive attitude at all times
  • Be a good communicator and able to liaise with people at all levels
  • Have good personal hygiene standards
  • Able to work on your own initiative & under supervision
  • Diligent & take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness
  • Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
