Job summary

Meallmore’s Pitfodels Wood Care Home in Aberdeen is opening Autumn 2026 and seeks a Kitchen Assistant to join the busy kitchen team. You will support chefs with basic tasks, keep areas clean and hygienic, and help deliver meals to residents.

The role offers training through our Kitchen Excellence Academy and a 25-hour week at £12.76 per hour, with opportunities to develop your career and become part of a caring team.

Qualifications

• Reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant capable of following hygiene practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and support chefs with basic tasks.
• Positive, friendly team player with an interest in residents' well-being.

Responsibilities

• Washing dishes, pots, pans and utensils.
• Keeping kitchen areas clean and organised.
• Assisting with basic food preparation under chef supervision.
• Unloading deliveries and storing food items properly.
• Assist in day-to-day kitchen duties.
• Ensuring hygiene and safety standards are maintained.

Pitfodels Wood Care Home, Aberdeen – Opening Autumn 2026

Opening in 2026, Pitfodels Wood is a new, purpose-built 65-bed care home on North Deeside Road within the Pitfodels Conservation Area, close to Cults and Aberdeen’s West End. The home will provide residential, nursing, dementia and respite care in comfortable, carefully designed surroundings.

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our busy kitchen team. A good kitchen is a clean kitchen, and as a kitchen assistant you’ll be tasked with ensuring the hygiene and cleanliness are the best they can be whilst supporting our chefs with basic tasks.

Role & Responsibilities

• Washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils
• Keeping kitchen areas clean and organised
• Assisting with basic food preparation when required under the supervision of the chefs
• Unloading deliveries and storing food items properly
• Assist in the day-to-day operations of kitchen duties
• Ensuring hygiene and safety standards are maintained

Skills & Requirements

• Good team player with a willingness to learn
• A personal and warm approach with a genuine interest of the well-being of our residents
• It would be helpful to have a basic knowledge of food preparation and food hygiene however full training will be given – so we are keen to speak to anyone who likes a kitchen environment, who is interested and passionate about food and who cares about others
