Job summary

Harrison County School District is seeking a Cafeteria Manager to oversee the school nutrition program at 67 Child Nutrition. This 186-day contract role reports to the Director of Child Nutrition and supervises Child Nutrition Workers and Assistant Nutrition Managers.

Responsibilities include managing operations to comply with federal, state, and local requirements, maintaining inventory, records, and ensuring sanitation, safety, and cost control.

Qualifications

• Proof of High School Graduation or High School equivalency certificate.
• Passing grade on the Standard Match Exam required by MS Dept. of Education
• Certification of Cafeteria Manager by the MS Dept. of Education
• Prior employment history in the commercial food service industry
• Prior experience successfully supervising and managing employees
• Current and valid, nationally recognized, food handling certificate
• Must be willing to submit to and pass drug screening.
• Criminal background check and a current child abuse registry check as required by Mississippi law

Responsibilities

• Operates program in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements
• Assumes responsibility of inventory; daily additions and removals; monthly physical inventory
• Assumes responsibility of facility keys
• Care and custody of all assigned equipment within the facility
• Maintains production records daily and keeps records onsite
• Attends required meetings and professional development opportunities
• Submit End-of-Month paperwork to Central Office by required deadlines
• Monitor site productivity factors and provide recommendations for improvement
• Conduct a physical inventory of all food and supply items
• Place orders by required dates to meet menu requirements
• Receive, store, handle, prepare, and serve food according to standards
• Submit invoices by deadlines
• Ensure meals are produced following standardized recipes
• Monitor cooking processes to preserve flavor, appearance, and nutrition
• Promote customer satisfaction and involve students, staff, and community in food service activities
• Direct meals for special functions and events
• Ensure sanitation and safety practices meet standards
• Onboard and supervise staff; set schedules; evaluate performance
• Coordinate safety and compliance measures with Health Dept and district policies
• Maintain accountability systems and deposit funds daily
