Job summary

Fernwood School is seeking an experienced Catering Manager to lead our busy operation serving over 800 meals daily for 1,536 pupils. You will manage 10 catering staff, promote healthy eating, ensure high hygiene and allergen controls, and drive sustainable procurement.

The role involves menu planning, budget management and building strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents to continuously improve our service.

Qualifications

• Experienced and organised catering professional.
• Strong leadership with a solid understanding of food safety and allergen management.
• Ability to manage a busy catering operation efficiently.
• Dedicated to maintaining high standards, promoting healthy eating and delivering an excellent dining experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead catering service from menu planning to service delivery.
• Create nutritious menus that comply with School Food Standards and dietary needs.
• Supervise a team of 10 staff including an Assistant Catering Manager and 9 Kitchen Assistants.
• Maintain high hygiene standards and manage allergen controls.
• Source local, seasonal ingredients and minimise food waste.
• Manage budget to deliver quality and value.
• Engage with pupils, staff and parents to improve the service.
