Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sous Chef or Sous Chef to join the brigade of an acclaimed country inn set in a picture-perfect Monmouthshire village, surrounded by rolling hills, riverside walks, and beautiful countryside.

This historic property blends rustic charm with understated luxury, with flagstone floors, roaring fires, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere — all complemented by stylish bedrooms and a dining room that celebrates the best of the region.

The kitchen is led by a highly skilled Head Chef with a passion for showcasing the finest local produce. The team works closely with nearby farmers, growers, and artisan suppliers, as well as drawing on the abundance of the surrounding countryside and gardens. Menus are refined yet hearty, modern British in style with a seasonal focus — from freshly baked bread and handmade charcuterie to perfectly cooked fish, game in season, and elegant desserts. Everything is prepared from scratch, and the kitchen prides itself on attention to detail, flavour, and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen where you will manage and motivate your team
• Ensure ongoing training is offered to all members to guarantee the quality and consistency of the food
• Have solid man management and kitchen management skills in order to run this operation efficiently
• Have experience in high level establishments
• Be a creative and talented chef with exceptionally high standards who can lead their team by example and inspire them
• Have the passion and ability to maintain an exceptional standard of cuisine
