Job summary

An established manufacturing business in Greater London is seeking a Junior Quality Engineer to support quality and inspection activities across production. This role is ideal for someone with around 1 year's experience in an aerospace or precision engineering environment who is looking to develop a long-term career in quality. Responsibilities include performing inspections, supporting quality documentation, and maintaining inspection equipment. The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand 2D engineering drawings.
  • Basic understanding of tolerances and inspection principles.

Junior Quality Engineer

An established manufacturing business is seeking a Junior Quality Engineer to support quality and inspection activities across production. This role is ideal for someone with around 1 year's experience in an aerospace or precision engineering environment who is looking to develop a long‑term career in quality.

You will work closely with experienced quality professionals and gain exposure to inspection, quality documentation, and aerospace quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out dimensional inspection of aerospace components
  • Inspect components against 2D engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Use hand‑held measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Support first‑off and in‑process inspections
  • Assist with completion of quality and inspection reportsSupport final inspection activities prior to despatch
  • Help maintain calibration and control of inspection equipment
  • Assist with housekeeping, 5S, and quality compliance activities
  • Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives
Experience & Skills Required
  • Around 12 months' experience in a quality or inspection role within: Aerospace, or Precision engineering / manufacturing
  • Ability to read and understand 2D engineering drawings
  • Basic understanding of tolerances and inspection principles
  • Experience using hand‑held measuring equipment
  • Good attention to detail and a quality‑focused mindset
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a quality engineering function
Desirable (Not Essential)
  • Exposure to aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100 / ISO9001)
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T
  • Any exposure to FAIRs, first‑offs, or SPC
  • CMM awareness or training

Working Hours
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 15:00
