About Digital Carbon

Digital Carbon is a UK-based co-managed network services provider (MSP) delivering secure, scalable connectivity solutions for modern multi-site businesses.

We help ambitious organisations modernise their networks through a combination of deep technical expertise, global reach, and hands‑on support. Working closely with our clients IT teams, we provide specialist support across SD-WAN, SD-Branch, Wi‑Fi, Wireless, ZTNA, low-orbit satellite, and wider connectivity environments — enabling customers to stay in control while benefiting from trusted expert guidance.

Our services span the full network lifecycle, from design and deployment to customer training and 24/7 support, ensuring every rollout is smooth, resilient, and built for long-term success.

The Role

We are growing rapidly and are looking for a motivated Junior Network Support Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers, and getting hands‑on with the kit — not just from behind a laptop, but on site where the network actually lives.

This is a hybrid remote and field‑based position. You will spend most of your week working from home providing remote technical support, and occasionally visiting customer premises to install new equipment, commission new sites, and resolve faults that can’t be fixed remotely. Our customers operate across the UK and internationally, so site visits will take you nationwide and, from time to time, overseas.

You will work closely with both our Sales team and end customers to understand network configurations, troubleshoot issues, and respond to technical questions related to our Connectivity, SD‑WAN, and Wi‑Fi services. You will be expected to investigate root causes, provide practical solutions or work‑arounds, and guide customers through to resolution with professionalism and clarity.

You will also collaborate with internal teams and external partners when escalation is required, ensuring clear communication and strong ownership throughout the support process. Our customers range from small businesses to multinational organisations, so the ability to adapt and communicate effectively is essential.

This is a highly technical role within a dynamic startup environment where innovation, agility, and accountability are central to how we work. As part of a small and ambitious team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, develop your technical skills quickly, and contribute directly to customer success.

Key Responsibilities
Remote Support
  • Provide pre‑sales and post‑sales technical support for customers and prospects.
  • Troubleshoot service issues through investigation, log analysis, replication, and collaboration with internal and external teams.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and high‑quality support via email and phone.
  • Take full ownership of customer issues from initial case creation through to final resolution.
  • Escalate issues proactively and work with Sales, Account Managers, and Management to set the right priority.
  • Work closely with external vendors and partners to investigate and resolve technical problems.
  • Create and maintain knowledge base articles for resolved issues and recurring technical scenarios.
  • Provide clear updates to customers and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of each case.
  • Attend customer sites across the UK, and occasionally overseas, to diagnose and resolve faults that cannot be fixed remotely, including cabling, hardware, power, and physical layer issues.
  • Carry out new installations and site commissioning: racking and stacking, structured cabling, patching, and bringing new circuits and services into life.
  • Install, configure, and commission routers, switches, firewalls, and Wi‑Fi access points.
  • Install and align Starlink and other low‑orbit satellite terminals, including siting, mounting, cable routing, and service activation.
  • Perform site surveys ahead of installation and produce clear as‑built documentation and handover notes.
  • Support customer proofs‑of‑concept and network deployments using modern networking technologies and services.
  • Work safely and professionally on customer premises, following site rules, health and safety requirements, and working‑at‑height procedures.
Requirements
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in network support, technical support, field engineering, or a Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) environment.
  • Full UK driving licence and the willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK and, on occasion, internationally. Occasional overnight stays away from home will be part of the role.
  • A valid passport and the ability to travel abroad without restriction.
  • Based and living in Northern England (for example Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Yorkshire, the North East, Lancashire, or Cumbria).
  • Right to work in the UK (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role).
  • Strong troubleshooting experience across enterprise networking environments.
  • Experience working with SD‑WAN, SASE, Wi‑Fi access points, Network Access Control (NAC), or related networking technologies.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of TCP/IP, QoS, Layer 2 to Layer 7 technologies, HTTPS, VoIP, and network performance troubleshooting.
  • Practical, hands‑on experience installing and commissioning network hardware — routers, switches, and access points.
  • Solid understanding of network topologies, customer environments, and configuration analysis.
  • Experience with dynamic routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Ability to analyse packet captures and network traffic to identify issues.
  • Hands‑on experience with Arista and VeloCloud, which form the core of the platforms we deploy and support. Experience with comparable vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet will also be considered.
  • Ability to work effectively with vendors and partners to verify and resolve technical issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the confidence to represent Digital Carbon in front of customers on their own sites. Polish language skills would be a distinct advantage, as we work closely with colleagues and customers in Poland.
  • Comfortable working in a startup environment with a high level of ownership, adaptability, and initiative.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Polish language skills, written and spoken.
  • Experience installing and aligning Starlink or other satellite broadband terminals.
  • Experience with 4G/5G fixed wireless access.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, CompTIA Network+, or vendor‑specific equivalents.
  • Working at height, IPAF, or CSCS certification, or experience working on live commercial sites.
  • Experience producing site surveys, scopes of work, or as‑built documentation.
Why Join Digital Carbon

At Digital Carbon, you will work on modern networking challenges in a collaborative and forward‑thinking environment. You will gain hands‑on exposure to cutting‑edge technologies across SD‑WAN, SASE, Wi‑Fi, and satellite connectivity, work alongside experienced technical and commercial teams, and play a direct role in helping customers build more secure and scalable network environments.

Because we’re a small team, you won’t be siloed into a single ticket queue. You’ll see projects through from survey to installation to support, and your work will be visible to the customers and the business.
