Job summary

A technology services provider seeks a Cisco Network Engineer to design and support enterprise-grade Cisco network solutions in a remote-first role. The team is hiring a Cisco Network Engineer (Remote) to design, implement, and support enterprise-grade Cisco network solutions. The role will focus on ensuring optimal network performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and contributing to continuous improvement across distributed environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day tickets including Incident, Service Request, and Problem Management.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex, high-priority customer incidents.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced routing, switching, and security issues.
  • Perform system analysis and integrate with authentication/identity services.
  • Provide project support and delivery across Cisco networking solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior technical staff to encourage their development.
  • Participate in a 1-in-4 on-call support rota.
  • Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and customer network teams.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and deliver detailed root cause analysis.
Requirements

Proven experience working with Cisco technologies including:

  • Cisco Catalyst & Nexus switching platforms
  • Cisco ISR/ASR routing
  • Cisco Firewalls (ASA, FTD, FMC)
  • Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki (MX/MS/MR), and Catalyst Wireless
  • Cisco ACI and/or UCS
  • Strong understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VRFs, and packet capture analysis.
  • Experience troubleshooting secure network access (802.1X, ACLs, IDS/IPS).
  • Professional-level knowledge of network architectures, security, and infrastructure.
  • Cisco CCNP certification (or equivalent experience).
  • ITIL awareness and experience supporting managed services environments.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally for projects.
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds or other SNMP-based NMS platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and identity management solutions.
  • Background delivering Cisco projects from design to deployment.
