Job description

Solutions Engineer – Networking
Shoreham-by-Sea
Up to £40,000 + Car Allowance

(Internal Job Level Reference: Senior Associate)

About the role

We're looking for a Solutions Engineer to join our networking team, delivering remote and on-site support, infrastructure deployments and technical consultancy for customers across a range of industries. You'll be recognised as a subject matter expert in networking, leading projects in your specialism and helping drive best practice and technical excellence across the wider team.

This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail of an infrastructure project – from scoping and design through to hands‑on delivery and hand‑over – while also having the chance to mentor others and shape how the team works.

What you'll be doing

Technical delivery

  • Delivering high-quality installation, configuration and maintenance of customer infrastructure, including SD‑WAN (Software‑Defined Wide Area Network), switching, firewalls, wireless, SSE/SASE (Secure Service Edge/Secure Access Service Edge) and other network devices
  • Acting as an escalation point for complex technical faults within your area of specialism
  • Troubleshooting and resolving advanced infrastructure issues across networking estates
  • Designing, implementing and migrating enterprise network solutions including LAN/WAN, SD‑WAN, VLANs, firewalls and secure wireless, across vendors such as Meraki, Fortinet and Cisco

Project leadership

  • Leading the delivery of projects with a primary focus on networking – including network refreshes, LAN/WAN and SD‑WAN rollouts, and firewall and wireless deployments – while also contributing to cloud migrations, infrastructure deployments and security implementations
  • Managing technical workstreams within larger programmes, typically owning the network workstream while coordinating with project managers, consultants and third‑party vendors
  • Attending and contributing to customer calls for technical scoping, solution design and implementation planning
  • Undertaking and documenting site surveys, technical audits and readiness assessments
  • Supporting new customer onboarding and technology transitions, ensuring a smooth handover to service operations

Documentation and standards

  • Auditing and documenting client infrastructure to a high standard, maintaining accurate configuration records
  • Developing and maintaining best‑practice documentation, knowledge base articles and technical runbooks for your specialist area
  • Providing detailed solution designs and technical proposals to meet customer requirements

Collaboration and development

  • Mentoring and supporting other engineers on complex project deliveries and technical escalations
  • Staying current with industry developments, emerging technologies and vendor certifications relevant to your specialism
  • Working closely with account management, pre‑sales and service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience
What you'll bring
  • Proven experience in a support, infrastructure or solutions delivery role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences
  • Strong troubleshooting methodology and analytical problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation standards
  • Punctual and responsible, with excellent time management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
  • Flexibility to adjust working hours or travel for project requirements
  • A full valid UK driving licence
  • A strong desire to grow your technical knowledge and achieve industry certifications
  • Demonstrable expertise in networking: VLANs, routing and switching, firewalls, WAN/SD‑WAN, and wireless design and deployment (Meraki, Cisco, Fortinet)
Nice to have
  • Experience working in an IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment
  • Vendor certifications in networking (Meraki, Cisco, Fortinet) or security platforms
  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Azure Automation)
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and service management principles
  • Experience with documentation platforms (IT Glue, Hudu or similar)
Where this role can take you
