Job summary

Clements Young is seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor / Trainee QS for its M&E division in Bedford. You will support commercial teams across electrical and mechanical packages, gaining practical experience from senior staff.

From tender through final account, you’ll assist with cost plans, procurement, valuations and change control. A numerate mindset, good communication and a willingness to learn are essential for progression in this busy contracting environment.

Qualifications

• Interest in quantity surveying and a long-term career in M&E contracting.
• HND/degree in Quantity Surveying or related field would be useful but is not essential.
• Strong numerical ability and the confidence to interpret drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Help produce monthly cost reports and commercial updates.
• Assist with subcontractor packages, variations and project changes.
• Monitor milestones and provide updates on margins and cash flow.
• Prepare tender documents, cost plans and Bills of Quantities.
• Support procurement for electrical materials and specialist packages.
• Review subcontractor tenders and payment applications.
• Assist with interim valuations and final accounts.
• Administer subcontracts for M&E projects.
• Attend meetings with clients, consultants and main contractors.
