Job summary

Fawkes & Reece London is seeking an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management of M&E packages from award to final account. You will collaborate with operations and commercial teams to ensure projects meet contractual, budgetary and commercial objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a background with M&E subcontractors or building services contractors, with solid knowledge of valuations, variations and cost reporting across projects.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor in a subcontractor or building services environment.
• Strong understanding of valuations, variations, payments and final accounts.
• Knowledge of JCT, NEC or other contract forms and cost reporting.

Our client:

Our client is a well-established M&E subcontractor delivering mechanical and electrical packages across a range of major construction and building services projects. With a strong pipeline of work and a growing commercial team, they are looking to appoint an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of their projects in the commercial, rail and data centre sectors. MEP values will range from £20M-£100M in value.

The business works with a range of main contractors and operates across a variety of sectors, providing a strong opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join an established and growing organisation with good systems and processes in place, which they encourage you to make your own.

The role:

As an M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of M&E packages from contract award through to final account. You will work closely with the operational and commercial teams to ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual requirements, budgets and commercial objectives.

The role will involve managing valuations, applications for payment, variations, change control and final accounts, while also monitoring project costs, forecasts and financial performance. You will be responsible for reviewing and agreeing subcontractor and supplier accounts, preparing commercial reports and identifying opportunities to maximise project performance.

You will work closely with clients, main contractors, suppliers and internal project teams, providing commercial and contractual advice throughout the project life-cycle. The role will also involve reviewing subcontract orders, managing commercial documentation and ensuring accurate records are maintained.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor with a background working for an M&E subcontractor, specialist subcontractor or building services contractor. You will have strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical packages and experience managing projects from contract award through to final account.

You will have a solid understanding of valuations, variations, applications for payment, forecasting, cost reporting and final accounts, alongside experience with JCT, NEC or other relevant forms of contract.

Strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential. You will be confident managing your own projects, working with clients, main contractors, suppliers and internal teams, and providing effective commercial and contractual advice.
