Job summary

Barfoots of Botley in Chichester is seeking an enthusiastic IT support trainee to join our busy IT team. You will gain hands-on experience across a range of technologies, assisting with day-to-day support, system maintenance and user guidance in a friendly, multi-site business.

Ideal for someone starting their IT career, with a genuine interest in technology, good communication skills and a willingness to learn within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (English, Maths, IT) or equivalent.
• IT-related qualification would be an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365 and hardware.
• Genuine interest in IT and troubleshooting.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Logical approach to problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line IT support to colleagues via telephone, remotely and in person.
• Answer incoming IT support calls and log/manage requests through the IT Helpdesk.
• Keep the Helpdesk and users updated on progress of support requests.
• Assist diagnosing hardware, software and IT issues; coordinate repairs as needed.
• Set up, install and configure laptops, PCs, mobile devices and other IT equipment.
• Support routine maintenance, software updates and system checks.
• Assist with user account administration and password resets.
• Liaise with external IT providers when additional support is required.
• Maintain records of support activities and time spent.
• Assist with IT training and guidance for colleagues.
• Support with system upgrades, projects and improvements.

This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a busy, multi-site business. Working alongside experienced IT professionals, you'll provide day‑to‑day technical support to colleagues, help maintain our IT systems and equipment, and develop valuable skills across a range of technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Required Knowledge/Experience:

What We're Looking For

We're more interested in your enthusiasm, attitude and potential than extensive experience.

Ideally, you'll have:

• GCSEs or equivalent, preferably including English, Maths and IT
• An IT-related qualification (A Level, BTEC, T Level or equivalent) would be an advantage
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365 and computer hardware
• A genuine interest in IT, technology and troubleshooting
• Good communication and customer service skills
• A logical approach to problem-solving and good attention to detail
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work as part of a team
