Cross Rental Services invites applications for a finance-support role aimed at developing skills in credit control and accounts processing within a UK-based team.

The role offers full training from the finance team and the opportunity to study towards AAT qualifications, with a competitive salary and a pension plan. You will learn to manage customer accounts, post and allocate cash, and support month-end tasks across a busy finance function.

Qualifications

• An interest in finance or accounts.
• Good attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Confident communicating by phone and email.
• Professional and customer-focused attitude.
• Comfortable using computers and willing to learn new systems.
• Sage 200 experience is a bonus but not essential.
• Proactive, enthusiastic and keen to develop.

Responsibilities

• Monitor customer accounts to ensure invoices are paid on time.
• Contact customers by phone and email about overdue payments.
• Keep accurate records of conversations and payment updates.
• Help reconcile accounts and resolve payment queries.
• Run and review aged debt reports.
• Support the credit control team with admin and paperwork.
• Work with Sales and Customer Service to resolve billing issues.
• Help set up new customer accounts and carry out basic credit checks.
• Allocate incoming payments to the right accounts.
• Assist the wider Finance team at month-end, year-end and ad-hoc tasks.

Job description

This is a great opportunity for candidates looking to start a career in finance in a supportive a friendly enviroment.

In this role you will support the Senior Credit Controller in managing customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices, posting and allocating cash, resolving queries, and maintaining accurate financial records. You will communicate with customers about payments, monitor aged debt, and help reduce overdue balances while building positive client relationships.

We are looking for a enthusiastic individual who values accuracy and attention to detail, and who is keen to learn and take training from the wider finance team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to study towards AAT qualifications.
