The appointment is to commence August 2025 on a fixed term period of 12 months. MbChB or equivalent is essential. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to CT Level.
This post is ideal for those candidates wishing to pursue a career in Plastic Surgery. There is opportunity within this large and prestigious unit to expand on clinical, operative, educational, and academic skills, which will assist in becoming competitive for recruitment to higher plastic surgical training programmes.
Ward rounds and trauma conference are held daily at the Northern General Hospital. Under the guidance of the Consultant Staff, the post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of elective and emergency patients in the Burns and Plastics Surgery Departments. The successful candidate will, subject to competency, have some independent operating, in the form of minor operating lists, for skin cancer and trauma, as well as access to lists in the main theatres. You will assist in principles of reconstructive surgery which will be based at the Hallamshire hospital. You will have elective weeks focused on learning the art of elective plastic surgery.
