Job summary

News UK is seeking a Junior Broadcast Engineer to join a busy team responsible for the support, maintenance and readiness of broadcast systems across London studios and outside broadcasts.

The role involves shift work including early, late and weekends, on‑call rota, and close collaboration with external companies and internal teams to resolve faults and ensure high‑quality transmissions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of broadcast media technologies.
• Experience with television and/or radio studio operations.
• Understanding of professional audio and video signal paths.
• Awareness of IP‑based technologies.
• Knowledge of broadcast playout and scheduling systems.
• Strong numerical and written communication skills.
• Ability to assess risk and work safely at all times.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer‑focussed support for broadcast technology users.
• Maintain and solve problems with hardware and software in studios and racks rooms.
• Seize every opportunity to grow and develop your skills.
• Work with outside companies and internal departments to resolve faults.
• Test and fix equipment.
• Perform quality and line tests with external contributors.
• Book, configure and test satellite feeds for sporting and news events.
• Configure equipment to meet operational needs.
• Provide support for Outside Broadcasts.
• Document systems, processes and procedures.
• Keep studios and stores safe and tidy.
• Implement new systems to support changing broadcast requirements.
