Job summary

BBC Studioworks is seeking a Studio Engineer to ensure the reliability and readiness of broadcast systems supporting one of the UK's most iconic productions, EastEnders. You will maintain, rig, troubleshoot and operate a wide range of equipment, including cameras, routers, mixers and communications systems, across London studios.

The role demands strong technical expertise, flexibility and the ability to deliver under operational pressures in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Qualification or demonstrable experience in broadcast engineering for TV studios or live production.
• Strong knowledge of broadcast gear: cameras, routers, vision/audio mixers, talkback, and networks.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new broadcast technologies and workflows.
• Commitment to high technical standards and signal integrity.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with production teams.
• Proactive, problem-solving under pressure, with safe working practices.
• Willingness to train and supervise junior staff and ensure health and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot broadcast equipment to meet production needs.
• Plan technical solutions with production teams.
• Monitor sound, vision, and data pathways for faults.
• Drive technical innovation and new workflows.
• Rig, configure, and operate recorders, servers, cameras, and monitoring.
• Lead equipment installations and fault resolution with contractors.
• Support junior staff through training while ensuring safety and reporting.
