Job summary

Moulton School and Science College is seeking an IT Technician to join our Northampton IT team. You will deliver hands-on technical support to staff and students, helping ensure our digital systems run smoothly to support teaching and learning.

You will resolve technical queries, deploy hardware, and maintain our network and AV systems, playing a key role in empowering our school community through reliable technology and proactive maintenance.

  • Ensure devices receive regular security updates and GDPR compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsive IT Support: provide timely, professional support for staff and students; resolve hardware, software and basic network issues; manage user accounts.
  • Hardware & infrastructure Maintenance: set up, maintain and deploy IT equipment (PCs, laptops, tablets) and classroom displays.
  • Software & Systems Management: install and manage curriculum and admin software; oversee printing infrastructure; ensure security updates.
  • Safeguarding & Cyber Security: monitor web filtering for safeguarding (KCSiE); assist with cyber-security protocols; uphold GDPR.

IT Technician

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary Range Grade G Point 8-12 (£26,824 - £28,598)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and proactive IT Technician to join our dynamic IT team. Playing a pivotal role in the everyday running of our school, you will deliver responsive, hands-on technical support to both staff and students, ensuring our digital infrastructure operates seamlessly to support high quality teaching and learning.

Whether resolving technical queries, deploying new hardware, or maintaining our network and audio-visual systems, you will be at the heart of empowering our school community through reliable, innovative technology.

Job Purpose

To provide first and second line technical support to staff and students. The IT Technician plays a pivotal role in maintaining the school’s IT network, hardware, software, and audio-visual systems, ensuring reliable technology integration to support high-quality teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsive IT Support: Provide timely, professional support for staff and students, resolving hardware, software, and basic network issues while managing user accounts and access.
  • Hardware & infrastructure Maintenance: Set up, maintain, and deploy essential IT equipment (PCs, laptops, tablets) alongside classroom digital displays.
  • Software & Systems Management: Install and manage curriculum and administrative software, oversee the school’s printing infrastructure, and ensure all devices receive regular security updates.
  • Safeguarding & Cyber Security: Actively monitor web filtering to ensure DfE safeguarding compliance (KCSiE), assist with cyber-security protocols, and uphold strict GDPR data protection.
  • Infrastructure & Asset Management: Maintain network cabling and basic switch configurations, keep an accurate IT Asset Register, and liaise with third-party suppliers for escalated issues.
  • School Compliance & Welfare: Champion a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety policies, securing IT spaces, and supporting the diverse welfare needs of the school community.
