Job summary

St Monica's RC High School, Prestwich, is seeking an IT Technician to join the Trust and help transition, develop, and grow IT services across the school network. You will diagnose and resolve complex IT issues, support staff, and contribute to IT projects, working closely with the Service Desk Lead.

The role requires strong technical skills, experience in educational IT environments, and a commitment to safeguarding and high service standards.

Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional).
  • Prior experience in an IT support role.
  • Knowledge of School IT systems / infrastructure.
  • Ability to prioritise work according to impact / urgency.
  • Strong technical proficiency across Windows, macOS and Linux.
  • Experience with IT service management tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.

Responsibilities

  • Document all support activities, including troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
  • Collaborate with other support engineers to ensure timely ticket resolution.
  • Provide technical support for escalated issues.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party vendors to resolve tickets as needed.
  • Contribute to knowledge base articles and training materials.
  • Act as a verification point for Change Requests.
  • Assist with internal IT projects as required.
  • Identify service improvements.
  • Work with Service Desk Lead to cover Service Desk and IT Operations.

Responsible to: Service Desk Lead

Location: St Monica's RC Secondary School (with occasional travel to other schools STOCCAT head office)

Salary: Grade 6 SCP 19-24 £ 32,061 - £35,412

Term of Contract: Permanent

Working pattern: Full year (52.143 weeks per year)

Hours per week: Full time (37 hours per week)

St Monica's are currently seeking an IT Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust at the beginning of a journey of transition, development, and growth within the multi-academy trust.

As an integral part of the IT team, you will work closely with school staff to provide expert technical support. Your role will be essential in ensuring the seamless operation of IT infrastructure and offering assistance as needed. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex IT issues, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing to key IT projects. This position demands a high level of technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and a dedication to delivering outstanding service.

We are seeking an individual who:

  • Document all support activities, including troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and customer communications, ensuring tickets are kept up to date.
  • Collaborate with other support engineers to ensure timely resolution of tickets.
  • Provide technical support to assist with any escalated issues.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors where needed to resolve tickets where needed.
  • Contribute to the development of knowledge base articles and training materials.
  • Act as a technical verification point for Change Requests.
  • Assist with internal IT projects as required.
  • Identify service improvements.
  • Work closely with the Service Desk Lead to provide an excellent service covering Service Desk and IT Operations activities.

Key skills / experience:
