Job summary

The Barlow RC High School in Manchester is seeking a permanent IT Technician to join our dedicated IT office. You will provide frontline IT support to staff and pupils, assist with configuring and maintaining the school network, and ensure software licences are up to date.

This role offers a stable, full-time position with 35 hours per week in Didsbury, commence ASAP, and a supportive team culture. Training and development are provided as part of our commitment to staff progression.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as initial IT support contact within the school.
  • Assist pupils with learning activities under guidance.
  • Act as liaison for external IT suppliers.
  • Support setup, configuration and maintenance of the school network.
  • Install and maintain software licences and upgrades.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware issues.
  • Replace damaged computer components as needed.
  • Maintain asset registers of IT equipment and software licences.
  • Ensure security via antivirus and firewall software.

Important Details
  • Contract: Permanent, all year round
  • Salary: Grade 5, SP 13-19, £29,064- £32,061
  • Working Hours: 35 hours, Monday to Friday 8.00am - 3.30pm
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Pension: Greater Manchester Pension Fund with employer contributions of 15.3%
  • Location: Parrs Wood Road, Didsbury, M20 6BX
Duties of the IT Technician
  • To serve as an initial point of contact for IT support within the school and provide technical support where necessary
  • To support pupils in accessing learning activities under the guidance of the teacher
  • To serve as a point of contact for all external suppliers of IT
  • To support in the set-up, configuration and maintenance of the school's IT network
  • To install and maintain licence software and upgrades
  • To diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware issues
  • To replace damaged/broken computer components
  • To maintain an asset register of all IT equipment
  • To maintain an inventory of IT software and licences
  • To ensure the security of the client and server by installing and upgrading appropriate anti-virus and firewall software
