Job summary

Wirral Metropolitan College is seeking an IT Technician to join our team on a 35-hour per week, full-time, permanent basis. The role covers IT infrastructure support across main sites and outreach at remote locations, including staff devices and teaching resources.

You will work as part of a friendly team, using System Centre Configuration Manager and standard college equipment; hold GCSE/Level 2 Maths and English and relevant Microsoft qualifications, or be working toward them.

Qualifications

  • GCSE/Level 2 in Maths and English is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft operating systems with hardware qualifications or willingness to work toward them.
  • Experience working in a team and capable of taking sole responsibility for projects.
  • Familiar with modern PC systems and general software management.
  • Knowledge of stock control and booking procedures.
  • Experience using various software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain IT infrastructure across main college sites, including phone systems.
  • Lead outreach IT support at remote sites.
  • Support staff with configuration of mobile devices (iPads, Android, etc.).
  • Ensure consistency across sites and contribute to the team SAR.
  • Monitor IT call log, handle jobs promptly, and work to completion.
  • Use System Centre Configuration Manager to support network users.
  • Provide technical support for teaching areas and curriculum IT/AV resources.

IT Technician

We are looking for an IT Technicianto join our team. This is a35 hours per week,full-time, permanent role offering a salary of £25,654 to £26,422 per annum.

Job Purpose/Key Responsibilities:
  • To act as a member of a team covering WMC main sites to support and maintain the IT infrastructure including college phone systems.
  • To take the lead for outreach support covering IT support particularly at the remote sites.
  • To provide support to staff in the configuration of mobile technologies (i.e. iPads, iPods, Android devices and other electronic tablets)
  • To ensure high consistency across all sites, and to contribute to the team SAR.
  • To monitor the IT call logger, take jobs in a timely manner and work to completion as efficiently as possible
  • To use Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager to support the requirements of network users
  • To provide technical support for the appropriate teaching areas, including the provision of specialist IT and Audio Visual Communications resources for demonstrations and curriculum requirements.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • GCSE/Level 2 qualification in Maths and English.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, with relevant Microsoft hardware support qualifications (MCDST, MCP or equivalent) or being prepared to work to such a qualification.
  • Have worked in a team environment, but capable of working individually and taking sole responsibility for projects.
  • Be familiar with the operation and maintenance of a modern personal computer system.
  • Have knowledge and preferably experience of software management systems.
  • Have a knowledge of stock control and booking procedures.
  • Have experience working with various software applications.
