Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is seeking a motivated 1st Line IT Support Technician to join their expanding IT team. The role covers first-line support, ticketing, device deployment, and managing user accounts across multiple UK sites.

You will support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and basic networking, with opportunities for training, progression, and development in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in IT or related discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
  • Basic networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support across IT services and resolve user issues.
  • Log, prioritise, and manage support requests through the IT ticketing system.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT team members when required.
  • Build, configure, repair, and deploy IT equipment including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Install, maintain, and update operating systems and software applications.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, endpoint management, remote access technologies, and basic networking.
  • Manage user accounts, passwords, access permissions, MFA, onboarding, and offboarding activities.
  • Maintain internal documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes.
  • Build positive working relationships with users at all levels of technical ability.
  • Participate in occasional Saturday morning support cover and out-of-hours work when required.
  • Travel to multiple sites across the UK as necessary.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience using IT ticketing systems and remote support tools.
  • Knowledge of hardware deployment and network cabling.
  • Understanding of backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Basic Linux operating system knowledge.
  • Exposure to cloud-based technologies.
  • Familiarity with virtualisation platforms such as VMware.
  • Previous experience within the automotive sector.
