Role Overview
Barhale is seeking an IT Stock Controller to work within the IT team. You will keep track of over 3000 IT assets and ensure stock is always available to meet end‑user requests. This hands‑on role involves managing stock levels, testing, repairing, setting up and dispatching assets to end users.
Key Responsibilities
- Track inbound and outbound IT assets, ensuring all movements and transactions are accurately recorded in the asset database.
- Oversee stock levels to prevent over‑stocking and shortages.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts.
- Ensure proper storage and organisation of IT assets to prevent damage, loss or spoilage, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Develop, implement and improve stock control procedures and policies to enhance efficiency and minimise loss or waste.
- Arrange stock disposals where required.
- Prepare purchase orders and order new hardware, software licences or related supplies as needed.
- Coordinate deliveries, verifying all incoming goods against orders and inspecting for quality or damage.
- Liaise and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and cost‑effective purchases.
- Prepare and label items for dispatch, ensuring adequate packaging.
- Move items to and from dispatch and collection areas.
- Track packages and address any delays to ensure successful delivery to final destination.
- Contact end users for feedback on service.
- Track returns and inspect returned kit for damages.
- Check assets are in full working order before dispatch.
- Test all equipment before returning assets to stock.
- Raise faults with manufacturers and arrange repair or replacement of equipment.
About You – Essential
- Proven work experience as a stock controller, inventory manager or similar role.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel.
- Negotiation skills to interact with vendors.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to identify, investigate and correct discrepancies with inventory, dispatch and procurement.
