Job summary

Vital Energi in Blackburn is seeking an IT Hardware Build Engineer to prepare, configure, test and deploy laptops, desktops, tablets and mobile devices for staff nationwide, with occasional server work under the Infrastructure team.

The role demands hands-on experience building and troubleshooting business IT equipment, managing device records with Intune and AD, and supporting onboarding and deployment deadlines while maintaining security and asset lifecycle.

Qualifications

Two years’ practical IT hardware build, deployment or desktop support experience or equivalent.
Experience building, configuring and troubleshooting laptops/desktops in a business environment.
Experience managing multiple device builds with fixed onboarding/deployment deadlines.

Responsibilities

Build, configure, test and deploy laptops, desktops, mobile devices and associated IT equipment.
Install OS and software, configure hardware components and apply security updates per standards.
Enroll and manage devices using Intune, Autopilot, AD, Entra ID and 365.
Support onboarding, internal moves and offboarding with accurate device records.
Diagnose and resolve hardware and deployment issues, perform upgrades and replacements.
Manage lifecycle of IT assets: receiving, recording, issuing, tracking, rebuilding and disposal.
Maintain inventory levels and perform regular stock checks and audits.
Prepare and deploy peripherals and end-user equipment for operations.
Assist with large deployment projects, hardware refreshes, relocations and site setups.
Produce and maintain build docs, procedures and asset records; ensure compliance with security and health & safety.
