Job summary

Xcede is seeking an Onsite IT Field Support Engineer to support a specialist customer across multiple locations. You’ll be based at Carmarthen or Worcester for 3–5 days per week, with travel to other sites for project work and support cover.

You will work with Windows 10/11, Windows Server, networking and basic hardware, performing BAU tasks, server maintenance, and documentation. The role includes hotel accommodation where needed and a 12-month FTC with SC clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic to intermediate IT knowledge and willingness to learn in non-standard environments.
• Experience in IT support, field services or service desk is desirable.
• Solid understanding of Windows OS, Windows Server and Networking.

Responsibilities

• Travel to other sites to assist with project work, leave cover and support needs.
• Deliver support across Windows 10/11, troubleshooting and event log analysis.
• Provide software and limited hardware support, including fault finding.
• Manage Microsoft Server OS tasks: joiners, leavers, DHCP, DNS, ADDS and VAMT.
• Archive data to tape via tape library systems and perform BAU tasks.
• Carry out office moves, hardware installs and basic server maintenance.
• Update records and ticketing systems; follow SOPs and create process docs.

IT Field Support Engineer

Salary: £35,000 + £4,800 car allowance

Location: Carmarthen or Worcester

12 month FTC
SC Clearance Preffered

We’re looking for an Onsite IT Support Engineer to support a specialist customer across multiple locations. You’ll be based at either Carmarthen or Worcester for 3–5 days per week, with travel to other sites for project work and support cover. These may include Warwickshire, Exeter, Bristol, Dorset and Wiltshire. Hotel accommodation is provided where needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Travel to other sites to assist colleagues with project work, annual leave cover, and other support needs.
• Deliver support across Windows 10/11 operating systems, including troubleshooting and event log analysis.
• Offer software support and limited hardware support, including break/fix and fault finding.
• Manage Microsoft Server OS tasks such as joiners, leavers, movers, DHCP, DNS, ADDS, and VAMT.
• Conduct data management activities, including archiving data to tape via tape library systems.
• Perform BAU (Business As Usual) tasks such as:
  • Antivirus monitoring
  • Network monitoring
  • Storage and capacity management
  • Physical hardware health checks
  • Auditing activities
• Carry out office moves, hardware installations, and basic server maintenance (Lenovo workstations and Dell servers).
• Update administrative records and ticketing systems accurately and promptly.
• Follow written work instructions (SOPs) to complete tasks effectively.
• Create documentation for key processes for internal and customer use

Skills & Experience:

• Basic to intermediate IT knowledge, with a willingness to learn and develop in non-standard environments.
• Previous experience in IT support, field services, or service desk roles is desirable.
• Good understanding of core technologies: Windows OS, Windows Server, Networking
• Capable of prioritising support tickets and managing workload efficiently.
• Familiarity with break/fix processes and hardware troubleshooting.
