Job summary

Punch Pubs & Co in Burton upon Trent is recruiting an IT Developer support role within the IT team. You will assist in scoping, developing, and delivering business process applications, write and debug code, monitor performance and support end-users.

The role emphasises collaboration with the Development Manager, testing new functionality, and ongoing learning. The office-based position offers a competitive salary, pension, life insurance, and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Proactive and able to work effectively in a team.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills with stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard email systems.
• Able to follow instructions and learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the full development lifecycle: design, basic unit testing, user sign-off, documentation, training, and review.
• Monitor and report on development progress to ensure work is delivered within timelines.
• Support standardised reporting and business process solutions aligned with IT Strategy.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of applications to deliver business value.
• Engage with Punch teams and wider business to ensure solutions are fit for purpose.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance system performance.
• Support day-to-day development activities and basic optimisations.
• Contribute to technical projects and learn from more experienced colleagues.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders in a professional manner.
• Commit to continuous learning and personal development.
• Work professionally to deadlines and contribute to team objectives.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues and customers to support service excellence.
• Support IT in maintaining reliable services and first/second-line support.
