Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School is offering an Apprentice ICT Technician role in Sutton Coldfield. The position is a fixed‑term apprenticeship (13–18 months) with 36.5 hours per week and the National Apprentice Rate (£8.00/hour, about £15,224.88/year full‑time equivalent).

You will gain hands‑on IT experience while working towards a Level 3 IT Apprenticeship. You will join the ICT Team, supported by experienced staff, and contribute to network support, device management and user assistance across

Qualifications

• No prior IT experience required; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are valued.
• Interest in understanding how computer networks, systems and equipment work.
• Willingness to work as part of an ICT team to support school ICT services.

Responsibilities

• Support the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of the school network.
• Assist with maintaining network servers, including software installation, OS management, fault diagnosis and backups.
• Help maintain network infrastructure, including switches, access points and routers.
• Provide friendly technical support to staff and students for logging in, email and applications.
• Help create and maintain help sheets, asset registers and technical documentation.
• Assist with creation, maintenance and management of staff and student user accounts.
• Keep computer rooms tidy and equipment maintained per health and safety requirements.
• Stay up to date with software releases, patches and emerging technologies.
