Job summary

Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber NHS Foundation Trust is offering an IT Technician Apprentice role within a dynamic educational environment. You’ll learn under experienced staff, setting up equipment for lessons and troubleshooting issues to keep learning on track.

You will gain hands-on experience with hardware, software and ICT policies, with GCSEs in Maths and English preferred. This apprenticeship supports progression into a technical ICT career within the Trust.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or equivalent preferred.
• Apprenticeship programme will provide on-the-job training in ICT.

• Install, maintain and repair computer hardware and software under guidance.
• Provide first-line IT support to staff and students to minimise disruption to learning.
• Maintain system integrity with backups and secure user protocols.
• Adhere to safeguarding and ICT policies and report concerns promptly.

You will play a key role in minimising disruption to learning by ensuring our hardware and software are functioning correctly. From setting up equipment for lessons to troubleshooting technical glitches, you will gain hands-on experience and valuable qualifications in a supportive setting.

Responsibilities

• Installation & Maintenance: Under guidance, install, maintain, and repair computer hardware and software, conducting regular checks to ensure ICT areas are fully operational.
• User Support: Provide first-line support to staff and students, setting up equipment and resolving technical issues quickly to minimise disruption to learning.
• System Integrity: Maintain system security and efficiency by managing backups, archiving files, and following strict user protocols.
• Safeguarding & Compliance: Ensure adherence to ICT policies, particularly regarding internet usage and safeguarding, and report any concerns immediately.

A minimum of GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English is preferred but not essential, as this can be completed during the apprenticeship.
