Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Darlington offers an IT Apprentice role within the Engine Business Segment. You will work four days on-site each week, with one day for study, and pursue Level 3 Information Technology qualifications while gaining hands-on experience in enterprise IT and manufacturing systems.

Responsibilities include supporting IT projects, deploying hardware and software, providing first-line user support, and contributing to process improvements in a large manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs including Maths, English and Science at Grade 7 or above; other subjects at 4/C or above.
  • A-Levels at grade C or above in IT or Computer Science are desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and digital tools, with interest in hardware, software and AI.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Relevant IT experience or skills obtained through education or training.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting small-scale IT projects from requirements gathering, process mapping and data collection to testing and user adoption.
  • Deploying IT equipment, configuring software and troubleshooting across office, warehouse, and shop floor environments.
  • Providing first-line IT support to business users through on-site and remote assistance.
  • Driving process improvements to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Gaining hands-on experience with enterprise and manufacturing systems while learning ICT security and data protection.
