Job summary

Jobtailor in Sheffield is seeking a hands-on software professional to support and enhance in-house systems used for warehousing and transport. You will work with a capable team of support analysts, developers and QA specialists to fix defects, improve data-handling processes, and escalate to the development team as needed.

You will apply C#.NET/ASP.NET and T-SQL skills, have exposure to front-end JS (jQuery/Knockout/TypeScript) and participate in SCRUM practices in an agile environment.

Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
Experience with data-handling and transactional systems.
Nice-to-have exposure to front-end JS frameworks and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

Support and improve in-house software, fixing defects and escalating when needed.
Attend daily stand-ups and work in an agile environment.
Collaborate with analysts, developers and QA to enhance systems.
Provide hands-on development and support across multiple sites.
Drive down known bugs and defects across our solutions.
Communicate progress and blockers clearly to the team.

Requirements

A real problem-solver at heart.
C#.NET or Microsoft Visual Basic .NET development, plus ASP.NET and object-oriented programming.
Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, and a good grasp of relational databases and the .NET Framework.
A proven track record working on data-handling and transactional systems.
Nice to have include exposure to Compact Framework 3.5, WinForms .NET, .NET Web Services and ADO.NET, front-end know-how in jQuery/JavaScript, Knockout.js (or similar), and TypeScript.
Experience of agile frameworks (SCRUM) and source control (TFS, GIT or SVN).
A degree in Computing or a related subject, or Microsoft certification, though neither is essential if you can show us what you’ve done.
Confident, and someone who works well as part of a team.
A good communicator who keeps people in the loop.
Pragmatic and self-organised, with a sensible approach to getting things done.
