Job summary

Thorlabs Ltd in Ely is seeking an Internal Logistics Operator on a 3-month FTC to run material and electronic flow operations within our end-to-end value stream, enabling the production of finished goods. The role emphasizes safe working practices in a yard and production environment.

The position involves operating forklifts and pallet trucks, following electronic workflows in ERP and Kanban systems, maintaining stock accuracy, and loading/unloading goods from vehicles.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to follow time-bound Standard Work.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving with customer service focus.
• Counterbalance truck certificate (or actively pursuing) with training body recognition.

Responsibilities

• Carry out material flow processes to fulfil supermarkets, stock replenishment, Kanbans and waste processing.
• Operate internal machinery to replenish supermarket stock.
• Use forklifts, motorised pallet trucks and other manual handling methods.
• Load/unload loads from vehicles.

Internal Logistics Operator - 3 Month FTC - 2294

Running various material and electronic flow operations within our end to end value stream to enable the production of finished goods. This is a varied role with many manual handling operations within a yard, light and heavy goods environment.

What we would like you to do/ to see…

• Work safely and follow all site HSE guidelines
• Carry out multiple material flow processes to fulfil supermarkets, stock replenishment, Kanbans and waste processing.
• Operation of internal machinery in the production of materials to replenish supermarket stock.
• Use various material conveyancing methods such as Forklifts, motorised Pallet trucks and other manual methods.
• Follow electronic work flows to enable material flow, accurate stock control and Kanban maintenance.
• Operate the goods in process, which includes ERP & Kanban electronic processes.
• Load/unload various loads from vehicles.

Our purpose-built facility is just 12 miles from Cambridge, within the beautiful mediaeval city of Ely. There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London, and our site is within distance of Ely train station and Ely Bus station.

• Attention to detail, ability to maintain focus and resolve problems t demonstrate excellent customer service.
• Valid (or working towards gaining) Counterbalance Truck certificate recognized by an accredited training body. Engaging with our supervision programme to enable a safe operation.
• Using ERP and other electronic workflows. These will use PC, mobile or scanner type equipment.
