Job summary

Thorlabs Ely site is seeking a practical warehouse operative to run material and electronic flow operations within the end-to-end value stream, supporting the production of finished goods in a busy yard and warehouse environment.

You will work Monday to Thursday 8am–4:30pm and Friday 8am–3:30pm, follow site HSE guidelines, use forklifts and ERP workflows, and maintain accurate stock and Kanban processes.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in manufacturing environments.
• Ability to follow time-bound Standard Work.
• Attention to detail and focus to resolve problems while delivering good customer service.
• Experience with ERP and electronic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and follow site HSE guidelines.
• Carry out material flow processes including stock replenishment and Kanban maintenance.
• Operate internal production-related machinery to replenish supermarket stock.
• Use forklifts and motorised pallet trucks to move loads.
• Follow electronic workflows to maintain material flow and Kanban accuracy.
• Load/unload various loads from vehicles.

What is the job?

Running various material and electronic flow operations within our end to end value stream to enable the production of finished goods. This is a varied role with many manual handling operations within a yard, light and heavy goods environment.

Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 8am - 4:30pm & Friday 8am - 3:30pm

Where you will be working?

Ourpurpose-built facility isjust 12 miles from Cambridge, within the beautiful mediaeval city of Ely. There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London, and our site is within distance of Ely train station and Ely Bus station.

What is essential to us…

• Experience working within similar roles, or demonstration of transferable skills.
• Practical ‘hands on’ approach with experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to follow time bound Standard Work.
• Attention to detail, ability to maintain focus and resolve problems t demonstrate excellent customer service.
• Valid (or working towards gaining) Counterbalance Truck certificate recognized by an accredited training body. Engaging with our supervision programme to enable a safe operation.
• Using ERP and other electronic workflows. These will use PC, mobile or scanner type equipment.

What we would like you to do/ to see…

• Work safely and follow all site HSE guidelines
• Carry out multiple material flow processes to fulfil supermarkets, stock replenishment, Kanbans and waste processing.
• Operation of internal machinery in the production of materials to replenish supermarket stock.
• Use various material conveyancing methods such as Forklifts, motorised Pallet trucks and other manual methods.
• Follow electronic work flows to enable material flow, accurate stock control and Kanban maintenance.
• Operate the goods in process, which includes ERP & Kanban electronic processes.
• Load/unload various loads from vehicles.
