Job summary

Brava Education is working with a primary special school in the Thames Valley near Abingdon to recruit an experienced Interim Headteacher to steer the school through leadership change. This hands-on headship focuses on pupils with SEMH needs and autism within a specialist multi-academy trust.

The successful candidate will provide clear direction, stabilise day-to-day operations, review risk, mentor leaders, maintain high teaching standards, and work with Executive Headteacher and trust leaders

Qualifications

Headship experience, substantive or interim, ideally in SEMH or specialist settings.
Strong people skills and a calm, visible presence with staff, pupils and families.
Sound judgement on risk and safeguarding; DSL experience is an advantage.
Track record of developing and coaching leaders.
A strong teaching and learning background is desirable.

Responsibilities

Provide staff with clear direction and steady the day-to-day running of the school.
Lead day-to-day operations and build staff stability and confidence in decision making.
Review risk across the school and strengthen practice where needed.
Coach and mentor leaders, hold them to account, and work with trust leaders on priorities.
Maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
